Safety gates will stop young children from climbing or falling down the stairs and help contain them in one safe room.

The Screw Fit Clear-View stairgate is crafted with a beautifully carved single piece of carved Poplar wood and features unobtrusive fittings that compliment home aesthetics. Classic, strong, and durable, it ensures a safe haven for your little ones.

The Screw Fit design is also no-trip, meaning that it is ideal for use at the top of staircases as it has no bar at the bottom and can fit on both the inside and outside of openings.

Operate with a single hand, thanks to the built-in pressure lift, and enjoy added security with the two-action press and lift feature. The gate swings both ways, with an optional 1-way setting. It can also be quickly removed (and replaced) when not required.

Standing tall at 77cm to prevent breakouts, our gate boasts a 2-way child-proof magnetic locking system with a visual colour alert. Made from bite-proof and lick-safe materials, it keeps curious fingers at bay. Complies with or exceeds EN1930 and EN71.

Note: While functional as an animal gate, it's not bite-proof against dogs/cats.

Designed to fit openings between 75cm-100cm, with an easy installation using only 4 screws and included skirting kit. This unique system can also mount over quarter round mouldings, pipes or wires, and onto brickwork or wood walls.

Versatility is key! The simple 180° Fast-Mount™ wall installation that allows a perfect fit, even where walls are at an angle. Including all the fittings required to fit a wall with or without a standard size skirting board. Plus, all the screws, fittings and even a mini spirit level all included!

What’s the difference between a Screw Fit and a Pressure fit Stairgate?

In summary, the main difference lies in how they are installed; Screw Fit Gates are more permanent and stable but require drilling, while Pressure Fit Gates are easier to install without any permanent alterations to your walls or doorframes

Pressure Fit

Adjusts 76cm-96cm wide, suitable for inside openings.

Wall cups and secure adhesive, with an option for 4 screws.

Not recommended at the top of staircases. A glow-in-the-dark strip highlights potential trip hazards.

Removal is simple by unscrewing the wall cup.

Screw Fit

Adjusts 75-100cm wide, suitable for inside and outside openings.

Easy installation with 4 screws and a skirting kit.

Place anywhere in the house, suitable for wheelchair users and kids on wheeled toys.

Removal is easy with unscrewing the 4 screw holes.

FAQs about Fred Safety Screw Fit Wooden Stairgate

Do the screws leave a lot of damage?

There will only be 4 screw holes that are easy to fill and leave minimal damage.

Do the screw fit gates have a trip bar?

Screw fit gates do not come with a trip bar. This helps with allowing wheelchair users to go through the gates with ease and children on wheeled toys.

Can the screw fit gate be removed easily?

You can temporarily remove the screw fit gate, still leaving the gate sides attached. To complete remove you will need to unscrew these sides.

Can you fit a screw fit with skirting boards?

Yes, it is a bit more difficult than for pressure fit gates, however it is still possible. There are spacers provided to help you install, alternatively you can buy a Universal Wall & Skirting Kit which provides a completely flat surface to install the gate onto.

Where can I fit a screw fit gate?

You can fit a screw fit gate either at the top or the bottom of the stairs, in a doorway opening or outside the doorway.
